Biography
Dr. Su Min Kim is currently a Professor at Tech University of Korea (TU Korea), Siheung, Korea, since Mar. 2015. He was an Experienced Researcher in Radio Access Technology, Ericsson Research, Stockholm, Sweden, from Nov. 2014 to Feb. 2015. He was a Postdoctoral Fellow in Signal Processing Lab., School of Electrical Engineering, Royal Institute of Technology (KTH), Stockholm, Sweden, from Nov. 2012 to Oct. 2014, in Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), Daejeon, Korea, from Feb. to Aug. 2012, and in Gyeongsang National University, Tongyeong, Korea, from Sep. to Oct. 2012. He received the B.S. degree from the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Inha University, Incheon, Korea, in 2005, and M.S. and Ph. D. degrees in the Department of Electrical Engineering, Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), Daejeon, Korea, in 2007 and 2012, respectively.
His research interests span the areas of wireless communications, communication theory, information theory, statistical signal processing, resource allocation & interference management, and link adaptation & wireless scheduling. More specifically, I have special interests in (i) Internet of things (IoT) including intelligent/low- power IoT, ambient backscatter communications (AmBC), machine type communications (MTC), and cognitive IoT networks, (ii) 5G/6G mobile communications including multiple access, cooperative & buffer-aided relaying, MIMO beamforming, intelligent reflecting surface (IRS), and non-terrestrial network (NTN) communications, (iii) artificial intelligence (AI)-enabled PHY/MAC including machine learning (ML)/reinforcement learning (RL)-based resource management and joint communication and radar (JCR) systems, and (iv) other research topics on cognitive radio (CR), simultaneous information and power transfer (SWIPT), physical layer security (PLS), indoor positioning, etc.
He graduated summa cum laude from Inha University in 2005 and he was the recipient of the Paper Award from the Next Generation PC International Conference in 2005, Silver Award from 17th Samsung Humantech Thesis Prize in 2011, Excellence Award from 3rd Science Technology & IT Contest for Graduate Students supported by IDIS (Intelligent Digital Integrated Security) Co., Ltd. and Korean Electronic Times in 2011, Bronze Award from 18th Samsung Humantech Thesis Prize in 2012, Travel Grant for IEEE ICC'13 from Ericsson Research Foundation in 2013.
